Transaction Guard Gripes

Transaction Guard is a free online tool from Trend Micro

See my blog

August 19, 2007. I griped about the free Transaction Guard service on my CNET blog.

See Trend Micro Transaction Guard sloppiness.

At first I wrote about the free Transaction Guard utility from Trend Micro as an example of a Java applet installing software while running inside a restricted instance of Firefox. I hadn't used Transaction Guard much and was still fuzzy on exactly what it did. So, after mentioning it, I tried to use Transaction Guard to learn more about it - and couldn't install it. I tried many times from three different Windows XP machines over the space of two days. Not once did the install succeed. It consistently failed with a network connection not available error. But that was only the beginning of my gripes with Transaction Guard.
